[s-cars] Possible MAF Issue

Hey Manny,

Yeah the cables are a bit long, I plan to shorten them in the future. I'm
pretty sure the coils themselves are ok, Nate tested each of them before
shipping them out. I had shipped him the wire harness & 5 coils I bought on
ebay that turned out to be blown. He tested & shipped me 5 new ones at
their cost. Gotta say it was awesome customer service despite my purchasing
the kit on ebay.

The stumble isn't a total cutoff of power, more like a momentary stutter. I
can leave the throttle in the same exact position and it suddenly goes away
as fast as it came.

This weekend I'm going install the Bosch 044 pump using the relay wiring
write up in the AW UrS4/S6 FAQ. Good excuse to do a bit of hard driving to
get the tank down to reserve. Should replacing the pump not resolve the
stumble I'll order an extra plug wire and work my way through.

Checked the plugs too, all are torqued at 22 ft/lb.

Thanks again.

Chris

Chris,

Shot in the dark but.....

Have you shortened the Ignition Cables? Back when I bought the 034 HO
Ignition kit the cables were not trimmed to UrS length, they were
super long. I trimmed the cables to a more reasonable length. I must
have screwed one up somehow I guess. I ordered a couple of new ones,
replaced one at a time until I found the problem child.

I had a slightly different problem when I switched to 034's HO coils.
Under WOT I would get what felt like a total power cut off until I
eased off the throttle, then the power would come back on. It was
like someone thru the Queen Mary's anchor out the back, that severe.
Spent tons of time chasing all sorts of things, even sent all the
coils back to Javad to have him test. I know the cables aren't cheap,
but buy an extra and swap one out at a time.

Good luck.

Hey Paul,

Much thanks, hope you had a great Christmas with the fam as well.

Can't be the POS because I swapped out to the 034 HO Coil Kit which
eliminates the Pieces..OS. I wish I could capture a moment when
idling to
have a chance to pull injector plugs, etc. but it never lasts long
enough at
idle to do anything. Every time I've tried the issue disappears as I'm
opening the hood or before I can even get out of the car. The issue
happens
so randomly it's driving me nuts. Only time I can reliably recreate the
stutter is under some heavy throttle in 3rd to 6th but pulling injector
plugs is out of the question at those speeds ;-). Longest duration was
about 2 minutes while driving on the Merritt in moderate traffic,
never had
the chance to pull over.

MAF has been carefully cleaned with CRC MAF cleaner when I took
everything
apart for the upgrades.

Do you know how limp mode is achieved, ie; what does the ECU do to
reduce
power?

Thanks again. We'll definitely catch up for a spin soon.

Chris
