[s-cars] V8 rear diff swapped to replace the front diff in a 6 speed trans?

V8 all years (euro included) would be 89-94. All audi torsens regardless of
placement 1988 thru 1997 are the same "university special" and can be
interchanged. It can be installed in a front or rear diff with little to no
modification. I don't agree that a torsen front would definitely help an audi.
They can work well in the Evo or the STi (with active VC centers), they haven't
been used in the center torsen audis because of the massive understeer
problem created. As I presume we speak to a street/track car, a torsen
front/torsen center setup could create quite a matrix of dynamic handling issues
(massive overload of outside front tire on a power up turn = understeer happens
faster than on an open diff).

I'd be curious to hear what is claimed as 'better' using a torsen front on
an audi.

The Audi V8 has always had the Torsen rear diff- all years, '90 through '94.

I don't know exactly how the front diff is mounted- is the front diff in the
transmission case along with the center diff?

Torsen front diff would definitely help- it's a trick setup for an Evo or an
STi, that's for sure.
