I bought a full Stebro exhaust system wth free flow cats for my 95 S6.
I took it into a local muffler shop that has been in business for over 30 years to have it installed.
The owner who has been there 30 years picked up my old rear and center muffler from the shop floor to carry it out back.
He said that this was the heaviest muffler in 30 years that he has ever physically picked up. 
He also said that it will make my car faster just losing 100 lbs.
Why are these original mufflers so heavy?
