lee, my reply to your email address bounced.

i was at the tour of california prologue yesterday. were you there? i haven't seen this many people on palm drive since gorbachev came to stanford in '89 , during my junior year.

i wanted to make sure you know that monday's stage is sausalito to santa rosa, not palo alto. just in case you show up in palo alto and wonder where everybody is. :)

i'm going to try to catch the wednesday stage in san jose. my wife is off that day, so i may take a few hours off to go watch.

is that Q7 a 4.2 or 3.6? my brother was thinking about getting one. how does the third row look? is it usable?

Subject: [s-cars] New Q7

Just picked up the new Q7 today.

What a ride. It's so freaking smooth and comfortable. So many
buttons, features, etc. It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to
turn off the driver's tushie warmer...I was getting a hot seat, and
once I figured it out, it was intuitive Doh, but it did take a while.

The kids *love* this thing. And even SWMBO says she could get used to it.

The full moonroof is awesome...we drove the Bay Bridge in the dark
and the kids loved looking up at the bridge through the moonroof.

Unfortunately we have to give it back to Hertz on Friday. :)

Dumasses at Hertz didn't have my fullsize Caddie waiting for me at
SFO (can't beat $50/day for this piece of floating Americana), so
they offered me a Mercury FRV, a full size van or the Audi. Guess
which I chose. They did ask for a small additional remuneration, but
hey, I will be putting 600+ miles on this thing over the next week
cruising through Monterey and down the coast to LaLa land, I figured
it was well worth it. We already took it up Mount Tam and to Muir
Woods, and I would not have wanted to do that ride in anything but an
Audi. With sport mode!

And the experience has opened the door to replacing the wife's C4 A6
with a Q5 down the road, so it's all goodness :)

Oh, and I've got VIP tickets to the Tour of Amgen Prologue in Palo
Alto on Monday. Any other Audi-ist bikies planning on attending?

Oh, and btw, FRV = Florida Retirement Vehicle. :)
