When the redesigned A4 sedan

and wagon go on sale in the United States this fall, Audi says the base 
engine will be a new turbocharged four-cylinder. Audi will release more 
details about the engine at the Geneva show in early March.

A 3.2-liter V6, rated at 265 hp, will be optional for both the A4 sedan 
and wagon in the U.S. market.

Audi also said that all A4 wagons sold in the United States will be 
fitted with the quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Along with a retuned suspension, Audi said it developed a five-link 
front axle for the Avant, based on the same technology as in the sedan 
version.

Interior features in the A4 will include redesigned standard climate 
controls and a new safety system.

The safety system will help control the force of airbag deployment as 
well as seatbelt tension depending on seat position and accident severity.
