This has been a known problem area to avoid for those of us in the Aerospace
industry for years.

Another reason to keep your old Audi... tin whiskers.  According to this
article, they form as a result of the no-leader solder they're using now.
Over
(not a lot of) time, a whisker of tin grows from the solder joint, and that
can
lead to shorts and lots of other bad things.
