Also FWIW, I have the ContiExtremes on my 2001 S4. I bought the car
with them installed.
Dry traction is acceptable at best. Wet traction is superb. Snow
traction is about as good as I think you can expect from a performance
all-season tire (no all-season tire beats the Nokian WR for snow/ice
traction).
I think they provide a good balance for a daily driver. Sometimes I
drive my car "spiritedly" and occasionally get mild drift if pushing a
bit hard.
If they are on special now I may pick up another set. Mine are getting
low in tread and I think I bruised one when I hit a pot hole and bent
the rim.
