Good news on the compressor... it is going on the upper floor in its own little room.? I plumbed the garage for air in the walls, and will attach hose reels.? Should be pretty clean, and not an additional noise issue.

I suggest a few tastefully chosen flags/banners of your favorite  
marque(s) interspersed with other artwork on flat wall surfaces.  Any  
open shelving with parts storage will also break up soundwaves,  
thereby minimizing sound reflections/echoes.  As to air compressors:   
Unless located in it's own soundproof enclosure, it'll be loud  
regardless.
