[s-cars] Coolant expansion tank connection

Failure mechanism I've seen 3 different times on 3 Audis from 1991 to 2000 is that you get some coolant weeping out of the failed/ cracked nipple. It is a slow leak that can be tolerated for a while by topping off the tank once a week or so. The greatest evidence (besides the disappearing coolant) is usually dried clumps of coolant residue and a little moisture in the general vicinity, but you could see steam, er, water vapor, if the temperature, humidity, and lighting are right.
If these symptoms seem to fit, I wouldn't worry about any more serious problems, at least not yet.

Now, is the escaping water vapor and/or steam under significant
pressure or not. Big time pressure can point to a problem while
comparatively low pressure is basically benign.
