powered be a bundle of white with red stripe wires (somewhere between 20
and 24 ga) that run down to the fuse panel in the drivers footwell.  The
same area has a bunch of big brown wires joined at lugs serving as ground.
 Most everything is wrapped in cloth, but perhaps the problem lies in
those power or ground wires?

I accidentally cut a few of the white/red wires going to the gauges, and
the car has the oil/temp gauges working, but the center display, tach,
speedo, and warning lights don't function until i jumper those wires to
+12V.
