The Apikol kit is installed and my car runs like a champ again.  The 
culprit for my particular problem seems to be a leaky valve cover gasket 
at the rear.  The rear-most plug and coil were fairly coated with oil.  
Ah, the list of needed repairs never gets shorter.  Check one off, find 
another to add.  <grin>  Thanks again for all the input on this.  For 
what it's worth, this is a simple upgrade and it goes quickly and the 
1.8t coil packs are cheap right now.
