I know it has been a looong time since I went to ski school ( '83-ish). But
I was taught that the uphill skiier is supposed to "look out" for the
downhill skiier as they have better visibility of the situation, downhill
has right of way. Also that you should ski in control , so you can stop
safely if needed. When I was getting lessons we traversed the slope back
and forth going from edge to edge of the trail.
I do agree with being annoyed by people stopping in the middle of the hill.
If you stop that is fine, just do so at the edges of the trail and also not
at the narrowest part of the run. I gotta admit I am lucky if I ski twice a
year and should take lessons again.
