[s-cars] Coolant loss / Use

HI folks:

I am beginning to be concerned about coolant loss from
my urS4.

Car has 186k miles on orig motor / turbo / trans.

Replaced Overflow bottle about 3 or 4 months back due
to leaking.  Seems that overflow bottle is a
consumable as I seem to replace mine about every 2
years.

I seem to loose about 3/4 of overflow bottle capacity
(about 1/3d gallon) of coolant mix every 3 to 4
months.

There is tell-tale weeping at upper thermostat neck
and at rear of cylinder head.

Replaced clamps / hoses / cleaned fittings to no
avail.

My local mechanic seems to think this is common for
urS cars to weep coolant as his S6 and several
customer S6's also loose coolant.

The boards collective experiance is?
