Isuzu Motors America said on Wednesday that it will stop selling
vehicles in the U.S. market. The decision is effective as of Thursday,
Jan. 31, the company said in a press release.
Isuzu vehicles in the U.S. market--the Ascender SUV and i-series
pickups--are reworked versions of General Motors vehicles. The Ascender
is reworked from the Chevrolet TrailBlazer/GMC Envoy, and the pickups
are rebadged from the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon.
Isuzu sold 7098 vehicles in the United States in 2007, down 17.6 percent
from a year earlier.
Isuzu said it would continue to honor warranties and encourage its
dealers to continue as service-only centers.
