Wylie- you're more or less correct- the 1.8T interval was 90k as long as I
could remember. Definitely not 60k.

Abiding by my mechanic's advice (he's been doing VW/Audi since around 1980),
I would do no longer than 5 yrs. or 60k miles on an interference engine.

I've heard bad experiences from almost any brand of engine when the timing
belt interval was beyond 5 yrs. or 60k miles- VW, Audi, Honda, DSM, Toyota,
Porsche, etc. I'd rather spend the money on the timing belt service than
spend money on a new or rebuilt cylinder head, new valves, etc.

Taka
