Another good measure is to place your ECU in plastic, as they did on the older cars... just in case you get a water problem.? Sometimes you figure out you have a water problem when it is too late.? Putting the ECU in plastic will at least prevent an expensive disaster.

I had to pay about 3 grand for the plugged drain to replace the ECU and all
of the other electronics.  Audi needs a good swift quick in the buttocks for
this engineering snafu.  They could at least have warned the owners.
Perhaps they figured the shops need the work.

I would follow the procedure below to fix this, but also, I would enlarge
the drain hole to prevent the problem in the future.  Bad luck for the guy
who bought the car.
