Yep... BTDT too.? Whatever the source, encasing the ECU in a sturdy plastic bag is a good preventative measure.

Tom, I agree that a leaking sunroof (blocked drain channel) is a good
probability.
I have seen in my own car where water from an overflowing front cowl
will flow right through the ECU compartment and then, once the ECU is
nicely swamped, the water continues flowing under the carpet right on
to the rear seat flooring where it then pools.
The ECU will even continue to function (with some difficulty) while
it is still partially submerged. For a while.
