[s-cars] wheel package ?

I moved up from 17s to 18X8ET45 with 245/40/18 tires and that works fine - I
ended up using 8mm spacers on the front to clear the big brakes (do check
your clearance) and 5mm spacers on the rear to chub it out a bit, though the
tires do hit the edge of the wheel arch occasionally. Dave Stone
suspension. Da bomb.

Subject: [s-cars] wheel package ?

Hello all,

I hate to start a volitile thread like this, but I need to tap the list
wisdom.

I have an opportunity to buy a full set of wheels and tires that are 18x8
with 42mm offset and currently have 225/40/18 tires mounted. I want to put
these on my 95 S6A.

Will this offset and tire size work on my car?

I know many have said that an 18 is too big for these cars, but I'd love to
hear from anyone who may be running 18's, and get their thoughts. Other
than the obvious additional weight and additional cost to buy new rubber,
what are the drawbacks of running 18's? Are they just too big and look
goofy? Unfortunately, I won't have the luxury of test fitting before I buy
which would answer all my questions.

The car has the Euro springs and Bilstein Sports, so it's about 1/2" lower
than stock. I don't track the car, so that is not a concern.

Any thoughts appreciated.
