[s-cars] Coolant Boiling

Tim had originally reported the coolant loss started within 5 to 10
minutes of start,
so I think most discounted a normal warm-up causing loss through the
cap.
I guess that points out the problem with truncating the messages in
reply. I may
have been guilty of leaving out some original information, but we
take up so much
bandwidth with the obvious that is repeated several times.
I have been seduced by the $3 aftermarket caps and $28 Meyle tanks,
much to my
chagrin, since all leaked within a year, requiring replacement. So,
you do need to
keep an eye on this area since you may not know what is on the
vehicle from the
previous owner. The distinct white trace from the Audi or Pentosin
fluid pinpoints
a problem area very quickly.
I had changed out the original tanks because they were discolored by
rust stains
inside and impossible to clean, leaving me without a visual indicator
of the coolant
health. It also reflects poorly on the vehicles previous care.
