[s-cars] wiper woes

If you think you're wiper arm springs are weak, you should look into replacing the arms. They aren't as expensive as you might think from any one of the Audi dealers who offer us wholesale pricing. Some things can be bent, fiddled with, tweaked, cursed at etc, and sometimes it's worth the $30 and 10 minutes it takes to order the new arm and install it when it arrives....
I did this with my 95 S6 and the wiper behavior improved immediately.

Don't bend the arms, bend the wiper blade. If the main structure of the wiper is metal then carefully bend it little so that the elastomeric blade takes on a curve that more closely matches the curvature of the windscreen at the extreme limits of the wiping motion. This worked for me.
Alternatively, I don't know whether this is available in the US, I have seen generic wiper blades that already have a curve built in. The blade has low stiffness so that it conforms to the curvature of the windscreen as the wiper moves across it.
