[s-cars] A6 2.7t info request

While I agree with Lee, I would say that for a 16 year old, barcoloungers or
not, it's a hell of a car. I own two 2001 2.7Ts, one is an S4 with a manual
and one is an A6 Sport with a slushbox (Both with less than 60k miles by the
way). Together we have put about 45k miles on the two cars and the engines
have caused no significant problems. I had to replace the bypass valves in
the S4 - not surprising since it is chipped - and I think the T-stat may be
staying open in the S4 as well. Other than that the only problem I have had
with either car are the front CV boots. They are like a 100k mile item on
the UrS cars and like a 50k mile item on the 2.7Ts. I don't know why, but
it definitely seems to be the case. No turbo problems at all and I drive
the snot out of my S4 with an ABT chip at Denver altitude - supposedly
really hard on the turbos. If they go out I guess I'll just have to upgrade
to K04s....what a tragedy that would be :)
Brake upgrade is probably not all that necessary as the stock brakes are
pretty darn good. I have stock brakes on the A6 with Akebono Ceramics which
I highly recommend and on the S4 I have Stoptechs up front. Big difference,
but it is not like the UrS where the braking is marginal stock - they are
pretty good stock brakes.
I haven't noticed any throttle lag, but certainly the automatic has terrible
transmission programming and can sometimes take up to 1.5 seconds or so to
find a gear and downshift when it is matted - it borders on dangerous.

Sport interior?
Wouldn't buy a used C5 without one..the barcaloungers are nice, but
the sport seats are much nicer!
