Martin - tapping isn't unusual, and can be a sign of low oil (at least
that's my experience with my S6, and my now sold 4000 csq and both my 5000
tqa cars).

If your oil isn't low. How long has it been since it was changed?

I'd try changing the oil, making sure you use the appropriate filter (no
Fram products!) and a high-quality synthetic. Hopefully that will solve your
problem.
