Hi Chris,
Yes, it's possible to do the swap using the S6 parts without the need to
cut and glue stuff. I just went through the whole process a couple of
weeks ago.
The process isn't too bad with the exception of needing to figure out
how to re-wire the two larger multi-pin sockets behind the wheel. The
process is undocumented and I spent *hours* finding the errors and
filling in the omissions in the Bentley wiring diagrams. :o)
I'm in the process of doing a write-up, concentrating on the wiring
changes since Steve Young's write-up already covers most of the
disassembly steps. With the wiring changes documented it should be
reasonably easy to do the swap as long as your car's wiring is the same.
I'll see if I can get it finished in the next few days and send you a
copy.
