Have you calculated how many miles you will have to drive to get
to the break even point?

If you drive 10,000 miles per year and move from a car that gets
25 MPG to oen that gets 50 MPG it works this way.

25 mpg at 10,000 miles = 400 gallons * $4.00 per gallon = $1,600 cost
50 mpg at 10,000 miles = 200 gallons * $4.00 per gallon = $800 cost

You would only save $800 per 10,000 miles.

How many miles do you drive per year?
How much will this prius cost?
Now how many year until you break even?
