Mine started giving trouble when the cars were seven or eight years old.
That's about 50% of the typical life of one of these cars. I wouldn't say
there are many 92-96 cars that are still on the originals.

That'll be me! I must also pass credit on to a chap called Marc who wrote
the
original write-up on the servo repair procedure. It can still be found on:

I've done two cars now involving six servos and one head end. The cost
of having all that done at the dealer (with their policy of swapping in
new parts) would be approaching the value of one of those cars.

One of the servos that I fixed back in 2004 needed another service last
year.
