[s-cars] got a new sound

Mike,

I had a wierd sound that heppned to me after I changed the brakes on a car
once and it was coming from one side of the car.  I thought great, I just
screwed something up on the brake job...but what, because I had driven for
like a week before I heard the sound.  It turned out that I had gotten a
pebble stuck between the caliper carrier and the rotor.  It was an awful
screeching sound, but I would bet that if you got something of a different
material stuck between the caliper carrier and the rotor it could make a
different sound that would vary with speed.  It was kind of hard to spot as
it was on the back side.  I kind of doubt this is it for you, but it's worth
a look-see.

if it increases with ground speed and not RPM I wouldn't look at the
trans.

I had a strange noise that increased with ground speed and it
ended up being the LF caliper had "lost" of of the retainin bolts
which allowed the caliper to pivot partly out of the carrier.

I'd start with axles, prop shaft, wheel bearings and I would
check the brake pads for drag.
