[s-cars] got a new sound

Or try 893 521 100 for an Audi number -- 90 I think. All the
research to do what Audi says you can't do has been done
and published on s-cars.org or URS4.com.

Check Darin's parts-direct listing. You can be sure those parts
are correct for the application. The driveshaft front joint is a CV
and Darin sells it on parts-direct and lists both source part numbers -
not a bad resource to have available. He used to sell the center
support bearing replacement part - BMW part IIRC - but I think
that 034 Motorsports offering of the bearing in a new bracket
has made the DIY option obsolete since you have to cut the
bracket, replace the bearing , and re-weld in place.

I wrote to say that if you are dropping the exhaust and perhaps
the front driveline, you are not going to attempt to just lubricate
the front CV joint and replace everything to see how it works. are
you? I don't see an option but to replace the front CV while you
are there. I would do the parking brake cables as well, and
maybe change the transmission fluid if it hasn't been done in
a while. I am not a fan of take the exhaust down, put it on,
take it back down, etc. After once, you lose my interest, and
pretty soon you have to disregard good advice to change the
bolts and start re-using them for economic reasons. After all,
if money is not important, have someone else do this job.

If you were smart enough to lubricate this front CV joint every
30K mi, then disregard all this. You probably will never have
this problem. :-)
