Brian,
Let's review:
This is a great solution (I think invented by Paul Gailus Genius electric
guy) to preclude a coil short to ground causing the IIRC, the 15 amp fuse to
the ECU to blow, which means no start, no run:(  Better to run on four
cylinders than not at all butofcourse. Be sure to disconnect the injector
from the dead coil cylinder.
AFAIK I have the only install I have ever seen but would recommend a fuse
panel for any hardy soul that does this.  I did inline fuses and its a pita
and rather unsightly.
I would strongly recommend something like this mounted on the firewall

Let us know if you find something suitable... maybe more weatherproof.  It
would be nice to have five leds or lamps inside the car too to alert you to
a failure.
