[s-cars] KKK K26 Turbo

It came on the UrQ, the 5000 turbos and some 200 turbos. Many different
trim types. The UrQ turbos were oil-only cooled, while the rest were oil
and water cooled. The K26, unless it's a K26/K27 hybrid, is a downgrade
from a RS2 turbo in most applications. The RS2 is basically a hybrid
K24/K26 hybrid turbo. A stock K26 will spool up noticeably slower than the
stock K24, but it will flow better under higher loads. It's driveability
versus high-end power, basically.
That being said, there aren't too many guys getting 300 hp at the crank from
CIS/K26 combinations. The Audi CIS simply is unable to flow enough fuel.
There are FPR shims and such that can slightly increase fuel
volume/pressure, but for the most part, it is difficult to obtain these
power levels on CIS. On the other hand, my 83 UrQ had tweaked CIS, custom
IA software and an RS2 turbo on it and was still likely not spitting out 300
bhp, but I never did have it on the dyno.
HTH.

IIRC, the K26 is what came in the UrQ. Its an old truck turbo, and oil only.
Plenty of guys getting 300+ hp out of them w/ just CIS.

Is the K26 bigger, better or has potential power than the RS2 turbo? I might
have a lead on one. I know the RS2 is the popular one around the block but
this
deal is fairly cheap.
Who has tuning for this type of turbo?
TIA
