There seems to be two schools of thought as to what is the correct
thermostat for the AAN. 80C or 87C, what should it be?
When I bought my car (it was 4 years old with Stage 1 TAP chip installed by
original owner) it had an 80C thermostat. At my first timing belt service,
the shop told me an 87C was correct. Car ran fine on the 87C t-stat
(including 6 Arkansas summers) until it started sticking open recently.
Shop that did my second timing belt service installed an 80C t-stat. I’m
thinking I may want to swap this back to an 87C, especially now that I have
moved back to Wisconsin… I’m gonna want all the heat I can get come winter!
Which one did these cars originally leave the factory with? What is the
best choice for northern climates, no track use?
