[s-cars] power steering pump sources

Forrest,

I thought I would just lump both of your questions together since the
answer is about the same. :-) I have no direct experience with
either pump by these
suppliers, but I can see that steeringpumps is a supplier and not a
manufacturer or rebuilder, has english as a second language, and
sources most parts from pacific rim countries (China). I would doubt
their knowledge of the S6 and requirements for the pump. There are
several pumps that will fit the car, from '91 200 to A6, but they
have different output pressures and volumes, and my guess is you
would get a pump designed for a chinese audi.

A1 Cardone also does brake calipers for most of the local FLAPS.
These are the ones you will get with SAE fittings installed on them,
crossthreaded
bleeder valves, etc. I would not expect more from a rebuilt steering
pump, and doubt they have a catalog that would allow you to buy the
correct pump.

JAC rack and Griffiths rebuilders are both established rebuilders
that don't use substandard parts or cut corners on rebuilding.
Sorry, I don't think there are any magic shortcuts other than rebuild
it yourself. (it's mostly o-rings) If the only issue with the pump
is external leaks, you should be able to fix the problem as well as
the rebuilder.
