Hey Tony...Good question.
I believe the whole succession of part number thing would mean you'd have a hard time finding the A version.  But that's just my understanding.  The J suffix appears to be the current part and would be the part of choice if you got to choose, although I'm not sure what would be the "improvement" on a rotor to necessitate a part succession.

2000 A8 has the right offset.  That's what I'm using.
