Wylie,

Thanks for the info.

The aftermarket pads I get for the BBK just come with the pads, and it's been a long time since I bought stock pads for the front, so I don't have any memory of the bolt issue.

I was thinking that if there was a grade difference in the bolts that there may be a different torque specification. I'll ping 034 tomorrow and see what they recommend.

For better or worse I have been re-using these bolts, but I am swapping rotors now, so it seems like a good time to change them. They are pricey though, 8 bucks a pop. I wish I could find a local source that might be cheaper. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Regards,

-Manny

Manny,
I know in many cases a set of pads will come with replacement caliper mounting bolts. That would at least lead me to believe it's a good idea if not an absolute requirement. As far as the bolt grade, that sounds like it should be sufficiently strong, but without having any reference at hand, that's purely speculative.

Subject: [s-cars] Brake Caliper to Caliper Bracket Bolts

Fellow S-Heads,

Are the Bolts used to secure the Caliper to the Caliper Mounting
bracket re-usable or are they supposed to be replaced each time?

I can't really find a reference to this question in the Bentley.

I believe these bolts are supposed to be tightened to 92 ft lb /
125Nm of torque, correct?

This is for a 993TT BBK, if it makes a difference (probably does).
I'm not sure of the grade of bolts in a stock set-up, but my
replacement set coming from 034 is Grade 12.9. Anyone know the stock
bolt grade?

TIA

Manny
