Jack,

German Auto Parts was the only place for S6 carriers (other than dealer) -
these are different to A6

Good service from these guys.

Tony

As you might have guessed I'm working on this in the garage right now! Tony,
thanks for the torques, I appreciate it. Don't have a Bentley! I should
write this down on the fricking caliper!

I've gotten the rear carriers off my car, and it looks like I'm gong to need
a replacement carrier, one had a frozen guide pin in it! Gotten it out, and
it's rough but works OK. So I went to my spare parts bin and pulled out the
calipers and carriers I've stashed. One of them has a frozen guide pin I
can't get out, and the other is rougher than the one on the car.

Best source to get another pair (new)?
I'd like a backups with good guide pins! As I'm using the same setup on my
UrQ and the S6!

Jack,

Bentley says,

26ft lb or 35nm for the carrier to guide pin bolts
48ft lb or 65nm for carrier to strut assembly bolts

So what are the torque specifications for all these bolts
Both the carrier to strut assembly and the caliper to guide pins

Ted:

He is talking about the carrier bracket to hub bolts, they are a hex head
(allen) and are not fully threaded IIRC. BTW, I recommend buying new ones
from the dealer as quite often the hex recess is mangled up by inattentive
mechanics who don't seat the hex key properly.

The ones that attach the caliper to the sliding pin are M8x21 and is fully
threaded. These normally come with new brake pads and have locking compound
on them. Also, I recommend buying new rubber boots for the guide pins, these
are normally torn and will let moisture into the slide pin, causing it to
rust.
