This bolt is hard to find. Not even the dealer has them! Is it imperative
that these bolts are replaced with socket heads and not hex heads?

The bolts for the carrier to guide came came with the Pagid pads I bought
have 10.9 stamped on them.
I'll have to go back to get new carrier bolts - the ones I got are full
thread and have 8.8 stamped on them.
Good thing I check with the knowledge of the group. Thanks.

As a FWIW the stress risers (and yield strength) of fully threaded fasteners
is lower than partially threaded fasteners. So, if the caliper bolts are not
fully threaded (no BTDT on the rears) they should be replaced by the same
type, NOT fully threaded to meet design spec.

Tony,
The torque specs would suggest 10.9 grade bolts. I don't see an advantage
in dealer parts as long as you are using the proper grade bolts and thread
lock on the small ones. It is a criminal offense to use substandard
hardware in Germany, and you could be liable for an accident.
The bolts provided by Mintex with pads are grade 10.9.
