Brian: If you can get a complete S6 steering column including steering column, upper and lower covers, levers, switches, steering wheel and air bag for a good price, you certainly can transplant it into an S4 (there will be some wiring issues that you will have to do with the switches).  As for "easier", I don't think so.  "Method 3" for the tabs that I devised and Steve Young executed to perfection (have you seen his engine bay??) (AND did the write-up), is much much easier.

Dave, all,

I have a lead on an S6 donor car.  Can I take the whole steering column 
from the S6 and supplant it in my 93 S4?  Seems easier than cutting tabs 
and such.  I appreciate any advice you or others can give.
