Those that know dbldmd personally - and I and any urq enthusiast does - also knows that he's about the staightest shooter and mild mannered nice guy on the planet.  As such when I  see him take the time to post a respone on AW objecting to your tangential opinion - it puts *you* in the hot seat.  And it's because of your youth and inexperience - no offense intended.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt I made sure to suggest the proper course of action so your deletion would eliminate my not so subtle coaching.  No harm no foul - glad you did the right thing.  Thanks and don't take it personally...

I claim youth and no money is only a challeng not a barrier to passion.  I was prorallying my daily driver when in college.  No trailer for the first year - used tires and a countrry squire woody wagon as service, 6 crew in one sleezy hotel room.   Prior to that I worked dozens of prorallies - even teching Buffums first urq and millens insane 4wd rx7.  I wouldn't wish it any differently today - some 30years later  

As project manager for a wide vqriety of quattro tastes over the last 15 years - I learned judging 'use' is only relative to the beholder.   I focus my passion to quattro on how the pilot learns the limits of his quattro machine.  Road, dirt, water, ice - drive it!  Fine examples are not excluded.  Especially in the negative beta cooeficient world of audi quattro investment.

Sharing the passion should be less judgemental more laughter and stories.  I learned long ago the latter makes more of the former.  The friendships you make this way last longer than any missteps in keyboard prose.

Go offlist and find out who dbldmd is - you might find many enthusiasts around you willing to forgive some of the  worst of trespasses.

Scott while i see your point to some degree, I can't see why, with what I thought was a very valid explanation, you and whomever else couldn't see mine. 

There was ABSOLUTELY nothing in my post that was derogatory with regard to his car, yet feelings were apparently hurt?  I love ur-qs as much as anyone. If I could afford it i'd have one to drive and one to time-capsule away.  Unfortunately i'm kid and life poor right now, so i've got neither.  Unless its politics I don't usually stir the pot, but I am one to defend a point if I believe in it.   I did finally delete the post two days ago.  

As far as him driving that car rallye-style, its obviously his car, so he's free to do as he sees fit. My heart would prefer a slightly less-seemingly-pristine example to be used for such.  Just my humblest of opinion.

Cleaning up the other boards requires effort of it's own members.? On occasion I jump in to see if there is hope on AW.? I was actually more surprised at your CL commentary in relation to a guy trying to sell a car.? More surprised you refused to delete it.? It could be better over there, but it starts with understanding what you can do to make it better over there.? 

Paulie, I honestly don't see this crowd or the AW crowd buying that kind of machine.? Put another way, it would be incidental contact to the proper place to list such an item? IMO.

I don't think anyone on these lists are 'collecting' urq's or S-cars to watch them appreciate in value.? I say go offroad, add yellow paint and wipers, whatever it is that makes you smile that you bought it.? That's what makes an enthusiast.? Purists and investors don't drive cars they own therm.? I think it's awesome the guy wants to drive it hard.? Cuz, he bought it and he can!? I hope he comes to Steamboat with it too!

Yeah, the BS on there was quite sad if you ask me.  I got the same BS for 

posting a commentary on ur-q board about the poor quality of Craigslist's photos 

and the panties were all in wads in no time.  As if were criticizing the car.   

Speaking of which, the guy in MI that got the euro-spec 81 urq for $8500 seems 

to have gotten a steal. I just hope he really doesn't take it off-roading like 

he claims he might on his website.

of those where he doesn't need the $ or need to sell thangs.
