[s-cars] Rusty Hatches (Avant content)

Both my Avants have rust on/in the weld/crimp seam directly above the 
license plates...

Have other Avant owners seen the same and how have they addressed it?

Given the location, to properly treat the rust,  I would need to 
remove the hatch from the car, remove the tail lights and trim, and 
then try to get some rust inhibitor, etc into the seam and then repaint.

Any experiences to share?

I am keeping my eyes open for rust "free" ( that's a challenge in New 
England) silver and emerald green hatches
(If there is such a thing)
