Tale from the Dark Side:

Bombed down to sunny NJ yest. for the AMG event, a beautiful sunny Aluminum blast down NY's twisty parkways unfettered with traffic at dawn's hour.  Set up in the side lot of local college, a large catered tent greeted us and provided interactive multi media info presentations.  Briefly sit in Tomacco Red CLK63 Black Series...  look ma no rear seats!  Neatneat car, I'm jonesin' for opp in that somehowday.

Next tent is open faced with a C63 strapped to a rigging...  hmm...  rollers.  Idea is you get a 0-60 timed blast followed by a 0-100'er.  Um, yeah.  I briefly think of taking a dive and posting a 35+++ second bog'd run with onetwothreefourfivesixseven upshifts grannystyle...   instead somehow? opting otherwise.

See...  standing behind the quadbombs for those was the place to be for this bit.  If you have yet to hear an AMG full-tilt balls to da wall WOT burble - well - you should.  Hearing the SLK55 pace car whilst grandstanding @ F1 yearz back, I figured well that sounds good but they all can't - plus - we were so far away.  Hammering bud's E55...  just different.  Think no way they sound so good.

Nope.  It does.  They do.  They all do.  Better actually.  I think it did even manage to punch a hole in the universe there yesterday.  From the factory.  Muwha!

Blah blah it's GO time, line up in lanes under another open tent.  2 C63s and one each SL, CL, E, and ML - all 63.  Hop in with instructor passeng'ing your route thru a ~ 10mi right right right right route, bewaring all the while the local Roscoe 'n Cleatus brigade.  Some managed to be found believe it or not - dolts!

7spds is certainly farrrrrrr too many, I couldn't get out of 3rd.  Why want to???... the sound any / all those exhibit @ full crack is...   yes...  as addictive as such - CRACK.  BuwHA!  Rev matched throttle blip'd madness - who needs ginormous 6pot brakes???  I could decel into perpetual bliss yes!

Gotta tell ya...  der Neu C is firggin _spot_on_ in execution / delivery.  Yeah!  Hi 3,600lbs, 450smoething hp.  Dyno kept reading off times:  60 in 3.9s and 100 in mid 9's.  MID NINE'S.  Holy FARQUE!  And the sound in doing it - again - like Euro NASCAR... but in the good way.  As in, this just shouldn't be but is.

Say.........   wonder just how fast them thar CL's will depreciate???  Think I can retro in a center seat for the rear buckets to fit 3 kiddies?  I hadn't seen one yet in person - I'll tell you this - the look is deaaaaaaaaaad sexxxxxxxxxxxaaaaaaaaay.  Not a fan of the Bangle'd front end on the new SL (wretch!) but oh boy does it suit the CL fine.  And oh man do the neu CL's lines WORK.  $149k?  Siiiiiiiiiiiigh.  This car is sex on wheels - inside.  Outside.  Driving.  UBERBALLS.  Me likely me WANTY.

Darn crowds left me baggin out of my SL entre - shame - hearing that song sung Stripper Style (topless) was high on the list of me wants to do.  Next time, which there alwayz is.

(One of) these is def. on the nextnext car list, up there with RS4 or RS4cab for me.  Oh and E55estate - but that's another subject entirely.  Neu AMG design, style, fit, finish, execution, delivery, and EXPERIENCE...  just *damn* tootin good.

BMW Tit Event is next Tue.  Stay er...  looneyTooned...  there's um like ahem8 of us slated with <cough> noon timeslots yes - muwahahahaha, pardon.  Alpina B7 and 135i cab for this here fine gent - *thank you* boobies!
