I am what most people call stupidly ambitious.... so I am going to try this
and see what happens. For those that may not know (which is probably most of
you), I am the founder of Dubs Along the Rockies out in Colorado Springs.
2009 will be the 8th year of the show, and I would very much like to see if
I can bring a bit of the east coast scene out to the land of thin air.
I tried this in 2006, but I just did not have the logistics in place to
follow thru with it. Now that I live here in Maryland, I can make sure
things are in place. If you are absolutely confused at this point let me try
to clear it up for you. The event will be called The Driver's Rallye and it
will start in three different spots, but we will all end up in Colorado
Springs for Dubs Along the Rockies which is being held at a VERY nice race
track out there called Pikes Peak International Raceway.
Along the way there might be some track time (depends on availability), but
there will also be some VERY cool stops and probably some free grub at a
shop or two.
I have put up all of the old stuff from my 1st failed attempt at this if you
want to check it out. The website is http://www.therallye.com
Oh... the important part... MONEY!! When I ran the numbers back in 2006, it
was going to cost each driver roughly 1400 dollars to complete the trip. I
have not adjusted those numbers yet, but I would guess the current figure is
more like 2000 or 2100, but I have a way for everyone to pre-pay those funds
incrementally so that they have the cash ready to go when next August
finally gets here.
What do you think?? Would any of you do this if I put the effort in to get
it all in place? You could pre-pay from December thru July @ $275 per month
and have 2200 saved up for the trip.
I would like to see at least 20 cars take part in this, but I am still in
"feeler" mode right now to see if it is worth the effort of getting it all
together again.
