Why not just try an roll-out the front fenders a bit, I would think this would help the issue

I've got a small Campbell-Hausfeld combo unit and yes, it is 
slow.

The 245/40/17 tire on a 17x8 rim, 35ET, does fit the B5 A4, with 
some very minor rubbing in the front (on the outer lip of the 
fender at the top) on suspension compression.
