When cars go through Manheim, the postsale inspection is done- that's where
a lot of stuff is caught. I could see that maybe AutoCheck incorporates
condition reports into their database when a car goes through the lanes.

It's actually better to buy a car from a trustworthy wholesaler (if there is
such a thing) rather than a dealer, because if the wholesaler buys a car for
you, it gets checked thoroughly both by Manheim and by the wholesaler, if he
earns his pay.

Otherwise, I prefer to buy cars from private owners- you can see how someone
takes care of a car by looking at their garage, their personality, etc. My
Vette's original owner was about the most anal car owner I've ever met.
That's a good thing when you're buying a car.
