As in "where the central lock pump is", provided you have a sedan? If
you have a vacuum leak in the locking system, the central locking pump
will run longer until it times out. How long does it run when locking
the car? Should be 2-3 seconds tops.
The 3B didn't pre-run the fuel pump, and I'm guessing the AAN doesn't
either. Might I suggest clearing the codes (not a full ECU reset) and
driving it a bit, then seeing if any of the codes come back, before
you waste money and time on a fishing expedition?
Issues of confusion between the central locking pump and fuel pump
aside- pump noise has NOTHING to do with pump function. Mine would
rattle and warble like crazy; I knew someone who had a 90q20v with a
fuel pump that sounded ready to explode and it had for years. Some
brands are known to be noisy, others put out that nice little quiet
electrical-sounding buzz.
