[s-cars] 2003 S6 or 2004/05 S4??

I think it all depends on what you want

If you don't mind an slushbox (automatic) and you aren't into really
spirited cornering go with the S6.

If you want the manual than you only have the choice of the S4.

However, I would suggest a cheaper, faster, and more efficient (MPG)
alternative would be to buy a B5 (2000-2002) S4 Avant with low mileage,
which of course can be had in either auto or stick.

Anyway, my question: I am considering either a 2004-05 S4 Avant or a 2003 S6
Avant... is there an advantage for either or is it personal preference and
size? I am not a super technical/mechanical guy, so general comments would
be fantastic.

Thanks in advance and if anyone knows of one of the above for sale, please
let me know as there are not a lot of these in Saskatchewan.

Hey Randy-

Both great choices, both real neat and a hoot to drive. I really enjoyed
each. Answer is it depends. //S6 Avant is tip only. Both 340hp, //S4
slightly lighter and with arguably a nicer interior (more modern dash /
controls, waaay better seats). Avants likely to be had more affordably,
mostly due to age difference, and are of a more 'affording' size IMO.

Can't go wrong with either I'd say.

If you reaaaaaaaally get desperate... email me, there's a couple //S4
sedans I know of (a navy / blk comes to mind quickly) and Avants are
typically 'findable'. We have had nutters come from as far as CA, IL, MD
(x2), and Toronto (x2) for cars before. Madmen, all of youses. But hey,
we'd finally get to meet right 8-). And buying US & importing saves you a
few bucks I believe.

Good luck, report back.
