[s-cars] Update on my S4 or S6 Search

Think of this way - you're driving a weapon of mass destruction. Steering in
to the curb is one thing and no one got hurt. There's been a couple of high
profile "accidents" in the UK recently where people were killed by drivers
who were texting at the wheel.
I don't own a mobile phone. I used to work for a company that makes the base
stations and I designed radios. One thing we never did was get anywhere near
a live antenna.

Randy,
IMHO tippy S4s should not command as much $ as a 6-speed, so make sure the
price you're paying is appropriate for both mileage and transmission, and
condition of course!
FWIW, I almost put our Q7 into a curb yesterday morning trying to respond to
an email while driving. Made me realize there is nothing THAT
time-sensitive, especially Audi list-related, which it was, that's worth
endangering lives (had my kids and 2 others in there car headed to school)
or damaging equipment. I'm lucky, and have learned a lesson that I should
have never needed to think twice about, so be careful. That would probably
never have happened in the Ur, or any manual transmission equipped car for
that matter. I always feel much more engaged while driving..... I don't
know if it's the different experience in the Q7 in general, or the
transmission, or both, but my kids will have stick-shifts, God willing and
if the crick don't rise!
Best of luck.

Thanks everyone (Wylie, Ian, Brett, Bruce, Calvin, Paul, Matt, James, JC &
Vincent) for great comments. I particularly liked the comment that the S4
had better seats and updated interior. I have found a 2005 S4 (thanks
Vincent), mileage a little higher than I would like, but the price is good,
car seems to check out and it's only a 30 hr. drive away! The downside.it's
a tiptronic and I know this is not the crowd to be disclosing that to. The
guilt will haunt me until I am able to do emails, drink coffee, play with my
GPS and drive. Replacing the 96 will be tough, after 7 yrs. you get sort
attached to the quirks and quality, thus my decision to purchase another S-
Car, I hope I won't be disappointed with this successor.
Paul.. Are Tiptronics allowed at S-Fest? .. But it does have Alcantara!
Ps. If anyone needs a VIN report, I think I have another 7 weeks left on
AutoCheck.
