[s-cars] Wheel dilemma

If they are truly OEM and not replica, then I'd say "OK".

I purchased some genuine Audi 17X8 ET35 AVUS wheels that ran me a
grand total of $400, shipped. I had them un-curbed and painted for
$35/wheel.

I then put on 245/40-17 Kumho ASX no-seasons for $72 per. You can do
the math. :)

They are not light. They are, however, sturdy. And they clear the
993TT calipers with plenty of room to spare, both axially and
radially.

In the end, I gained 5lbs per corner in rotating mass. Not great, but
there has been a nice turn-in benefit, and they look stock, so I'm
pretty happy overall with the choice.

I'm sorta, umm, frugal like you. So this selection worked out *very*
well. I kept looking in eBay and on AF for the AVUS wheels I wanted.
It took 4 months to find the wheels I wanted at the price I wanted. I
could have had them right away, if I had chosen to pay more for a
different set. If I had chosen to spend triple what I paid for the
wheels, I could have scored S6+ wheels.
