[s-cars] EU Light Question

This is my day for questions, I guess.
I recently acquired a set of EU spec S6 headlights that appear to be
in excellent shape. In unpacking them, I noticed that one had a
rattle. Something was loose inside. Upon removing the back cover, I
was able to manipulate the housing until the loose bit fell out. It
looked like the glass tip of a light bulb.
That required me to unclip each light bulb (Hanz und Franz must have
skinny fingers that are abnormally long) and examine the bulb. All
seemed intact. Then I noticed that the wire pins inside were not
attached to the male plug jack that sits in the headlight shell. The
headlight wiring harness plugs into this jack.
After pulling one of my stock headlights and looking at the same jack
I see the following:
Stock jack has four pins and an empty socket
EU jack has five pins
The wire color coding appears to be the same with the following exceptions:
US plug has two brown wires running to the same pin
EU plug has one brown wire to the same pin as US and one red wire
going to the pin housing that is empty on the US version.
Will the lights work properly if I just plug the US harness into the
EU light housing?
