Yes, Jim.  Put the wheel on and lower to the ground to loosen the  
nut.  Otherwise, you risk damaging the axle or CV joints--148 lb-ft  
plus 90 degrees.  The bolt on some is  a 24 mm hex head bolt, others  
are a 17mm hex socket bolt.  IIRC of course.
