If you don't put weight back on the wheel then you will need to counter hold
with the brakes (someone inside pressing brake pedal) or remove the bolt
with an impact driver.

For reassembly I have a 30" long, 1/2" drive bar. I thought it was going to
snap because I'm sure it bent at least 5". I think the procedure (97 A8) was
105 ft-lbs plus 1/2 turn. I almost got the full 1/2 turn.

Caution: depending on where you bought the axle nut you may discover that
Audi supplies a bolt with that needs a hex wrench, aftermarket suppliers
provide a bolt that needs a socket. Buy the bolt first, then check your tool
needs.
