[s-cars] Leaky hoses

Aaron,

If your leak is indeed the short 6-1/2" long x approx 3/8 ID rubber
hose that connects the waterpipe in Dave's ETKA diagram (No 25) to
the banjo fitting for the water manifold (in the ETKA diagram this is
Item No 27, and that diagram depiction is an abstraction, it is
really a bit longer, see the photo in Dave's accompanying link), the
one I just pulled off my car due to a tear is:

034-121-471-AP

My hose wasn't 3 years old and had 10,000 miles on it, and it failed
(at the track but amazingly lasted thru ad track session and let go a
few moments after I had parked at the paddock and was letting it idle
to cool down).

So I would double check the part number when you order it. This hose
was a perfect fit in length and diameter, but it failed way too soon
in my opinion. Who knows maybe it got a nick in it during
installation that weakened it. I also noticed that my hose had
seemingly swelled in its 10,000 mile short life.

Good Luck.

Aaron,

Btdt. Scott Mockry(sp?) has the right hose and new clamps for this. I
can dig out the old posts later today or someone will chime in with
part number.

Not too bad of a job with patience and creative dexterity. I cut the
old one off claned up the area and slowly pushed/ turned the new one
on. With right part it should see another 100k miles. Careful not to
lean on or put too much pressure on other AC/hydraulic hoses.

If the system is empty change all plastic fittings. Rear of block hose
fitting, thermostat housing, T-fitting also at rear. They are usually
brittle and will give you very slow and annoying leaks. Enjoy!
